I think as the use of cgi increases, gargantuan actors are slowly being put out of business if their biggest talent is their stature and mass. These days you can make actors appear any size you want. If the trend towards fantasy films which surged with the Lord of the Rings doesn't completely fizzle out, there could be a call for actors of this caliber to perhaps not play leading roles but to be trees, etc. But if cgi and the progressive technologies play out we may see the end of a proud tradition.
