Now I know I started a discussion two days ago about a cat looking after chickens, & this story is very similar, and just as wonderful. But it does have great pictures. I received the story & photos in an email from a friend. It did not contain an author, nor where it was obtained from. Here is the story:"One week after being born, six baby skunks were abandoned by their mother.? Luckily, we had just weaned five kittens off of our resident farm cat a day before and hoped that perhaps she might take them on as her own.? She was reluctant at first, but she let them nurse - a positive sign.? Two weeks have gone by and the six little "Stinkers" are thriving and their new mom couldn't be happier.? She has become quite devoted to them and even carries them around to show them off to visitors."

That is really cute! I wonder why the mother skunk abandoned the babies, sometimes they know that something is wrong with the offspring, but I guess the mom could have been killed or something. I also wonder where the skunks will go once weaned. I hope that the momma cat does not get sprayed! But, it really is an adorable picture to see. I have had mother cats take on other kittens, but never seen any other animals given to a cat.

Wow! I think now I have seen everything. I would have loved to see the expression on the visitors faces. I bet people were shocked to see something like that. I know I would have been. I also wonder what they will do with them after they get bigger.

Nature can be cruel and kind, very kind in this case. I wonder if the smell of the baby skunks bothers the cat mother, lol. Animals don“t make a difference between races. Thank you for a heartwarming story.

That is amazing. The pictures are wonderful and I rated the +. I wonder what they will do once the skunks start spraying or will they have to be taught that by their mother. I know skunks can be deskunked.

That is so cute. I'll bet the little skunks will grow up to be like cats. I knew some people once who had pet skunks. They made good pets, but if they didn't know you, they would hiss and stomp their front paws if you tried to touch them.
