do we still need it?
i don't think we need it
most of the people here skip the engagement part
they didn't put an engagement ring anymore
most of all, we can save some money and keep it for the wedding
what is its function??
is it for clarifying that this person is no longer available??

i dont think it makes a difference to the relationship. it mostly depends on the individuals. but personally, i think the idea of an engagement is rather sweet. n we all need an excuse for diamonds! LOL! :D

I tend to agree with you. I was married once before and I had an engagement ring that toward the end of the marraige he stole back. Greedy man!
I now feel that diamonds are not my favorite and I am happier with something that has more meaning in the way of a stone. I think that it is the true love that you feel that is more important. They also make what are called "promise rings" and they cost much less. I think that people place too much importance on the size and price of the ring.

I think there are a lot of people who do still like to have an engagement ring, as a symbol of their unavailability, among other things. Personally, I have never really needed one. I'd be perfectly happy with just something out of a gumball machine. :)
