Every single car I have ever owned starts having problems just as I am paying it off....Is it me..or does this happen to everyone?? I only owe 125.00 on my car after 4 long years. Now for the second time it is at the mechanics because my alarm keeps going off when I try to start it. I also can't get a sticker because my emmision test fails...and the code comes back for a loose gas cap..?? go figure.. I went to the mechanic to pick it up today..he goes out back and about 5 min later comes back..looking rather unhappy. He had told me he would show me how to shut the alarm off and put a new battery in. Well apparently when he tried to start the car, again the alarm went off killing the engine..and he couldn't get it shut off...lol So now he says he has to look into it more tomorrow.. Why Me...?? I have no warrenty as it's a 98 Nissan Sentra that I bought used.

Well I guess it happens to us all... If it was not for bad luck I would not have any luck at all.

I used to work in a factory, not for cars, but for household products, and trust me, products are designed to fail, as soon as they can, generally right after warranty, or at least within a couple of years.

I'm sorry sweets. It happens a lot to most everyone because they make cars to go only around 100,000 miles if lucky. Most have problems at around 50,000. It's all politics dear. If we can go to the moon, we certainly can make a better car.

Oh man Mari, I'm so sorry. It's as if the parts have a self-destruct module built into them that is wired directly to the odometer. When they are nearing the warrenty mileage or payoff, it is designed to destruct the part! I get a mental image of some devilish looking guy laughing like something out of a horror house...as he trots to the bank. I sure hope it doesn't cost you an arm and leg to get it fixed, but as we probably both know......

Yes it happens to everyone. Cars are designed to run for about 150-300 thousand miles depending on the manufacturer. After that the wear and tear will cause them to start breaking down and need repairs. Its just the way it goes unfortunately. I have had a few that were terrible right from the start! So if you at least had four years of good running without repairs thats pretty darn great!
