Which do you prefer on myLot?

So which type of person do you prefer on myLot? A quality poster that posts interesting topics, a copy and paste poster that copies discussion questions from Ask Yahoo, Yahoo Answers, Google, and Job websites, or a one liner poster that just posts only one sentence? What should myLot look like in the future? Should myLot scan our discussions via a database so they verify that we haven't cheated? Why or why not? Pablo

Pablo, when you have a community this large you are going to have all kinds of users. The best advice that I can give you is to ignore those who are just here to make a quick buck by copying things and reply to the discussions from those who really put some thought into the discussions they started. Honestly I prefer the ones that have given some thought into their discussions.

Thank you, well it was upsetting to me. I thought this one user had an interesting discussion. I found out later it was a copy and paste of an Ask Yahoo article. I was pretty upset with the person who did the copy and paste. Thank you for telling me to ignore them. That is what I'm going to do and I'm going to report their discussions. pablo

I like people who post their original posts not copied from ANYTHING because those people obviously do not respect mylot for what it is here for and just want money! And i think that mylot should scan peoples posts to see if it has been copied and what not and then if it has been copied they should be thrown away and not allowed back!!! :)

Personally, I prefer quality posts that are both interesting AND original. I don't feel that it is right to copy and paste discussions (even in part) from other users or other sites. Even though this is a discussion board, that is still plagiarism, and is not right. What makes the discussions interesting is the differences in viewpoints and the ORIGINAL thinking.

I felt very upset when I found out the discussion was plagiarized and I had spent my time giving a good response. Yes, I agree with you, we want original and quality discussions here. Pablo

I definitely prefer posts that are original and spark me to share a story. That is what I enjoy doing. I can not seem to think of anything to say on the other kinds of discussions. But, to each his own. It must be very difficult when english is not the first language of a poster, and perhaps they get frustrated from all the negative input to their posts because the language does not flow free and natural. english is a difficult language to learn as it has so many rules and so many exceptions to the rules. :(

Yea, I always like good discussions as well. I totally understand about the English barrier, but it makes me sad because I see people on here that have good discussions and they actually try very hard to get the grammar and spelling right. And then I see these users who just copy and paste. It makes me feel bad for the ones that are actually trying to use English. Pablo

I prefer quality posters. Just start quality discussions and I don't want quantity. It is crazy when you turn on notification and look through the discussions only to find out that you can't answer 90% of time. It drains my energy for no reason and waste my time.

Hm, yea that would be annoying. In fact I receive so much email (at least 100 messages a day) that I must confess that I don't have notifications on for most of the stuff on here. I know it is probably not the nicest thing to do, but I just have too much email to go through. :) Pablo

Just check out "discussions started by friends" when you have time. That would balance things a little. ;-)

Hey Pablo! I love good discussions. I hate one liner and I really HATE the copy and pasters. I know the one you and I were reporting hasn't posted anything lately, so we can only hope that our actions actually did something :) It would be great if they could scan for plagerising (sorry, mis-spelled). Even if they can't check the internet at least if they could somehow block people from copying and pasting discussions that are already on here, even that would be helpful!
