well, the lazy part is debatable. but everyone does this. it is just easier than shouting at each other.

My wife doesn't IM yet. She doesn't type as fast as I do and she would rather just pick up the phone and call me. However, if we are in the house together we will just go and talk in person. Far be it from me to call anyone lazy. The main thing is that you are communicating with each other. At least you have that.

Actually, that sounds kind of fun! I live with my grandma, and her computer is in the other room, but I still send her e-mails. :)

My hubby and I have done this and we can actually see each other from our computers lol. Usually t is because we don't want the children to hear what we are saying.

haha..you're definitely not alone:D ..i don't have a roommate or anything, but my colleagues and i who sit near each other also uses IM for us to communicate with each other. sometimes my colleague who sits next to me or opposite me also send me an IM, whenever we want to gossip or talk about anything personal hehe..^_^

No we talk to eachother when we`re in the same room most times , what I hate is when your trying to talk and whoever I`m talking to gets up and walks away and expects me to hear what they said .
that is the most annoying thing . I mean why start talking and in the middle of a sentence walk away ...
When someone does that I wait until they come back and wether I heard them or not I`ll ask what it was they said ...
To make sure I heard them right ...

Well my boyfriend and I do that but not when wqe are in the same house, we do that when he is at work, instead of picking up the phone to call him I will send him messages like what do you want for dinner? can you bring home milk? you know things like that, that I would rather say in an email than when we talk on the phone.

LOL! You're not alone hon. With hubby and I, I can be at one end of the house, and he will be at the other, and instead of either of us going to find the other to say what we want to say, we will text message each other on our cell phones. Is that sad, or what? LOL

I don't think you all are a bit lazy. It is more convenient for you both to instant message each other instead fo having to get up and walk somehwere while you are busy on the internet. It is alot more convenient. We only have one computer in our home so I have to walk to where someone else is at if I need to talk to them. I have another computer but it needs worked on and i have to get another phone line put in. I would definitely instant message though if I had the opportunity to do so.

Nope you are not alone. Just last week in india the IIT committee had passed a rule of no internet hours in order to get students to increase their social skills.
