It seems that over the past few days, I have had to stop what I've been doing to solve some problem with my computer. It has nearly always been related to internet explorer freezing, won't close and then the computer won't shut down and re-start, so I've had to pull the plug that is not good for it.
I have just found out how to locate a list of errors.
Click Start, go into Control Panel, then Administrative Tools.
Double Click on Event Viewer and a window will open.
Select "system" in Left hand window and in the right window a list of events with dates and times will appear.
Double click any with a red "error" sign near to the time you had problems. You may get a window asking if it's OK to send information to the interent. Click OK. (Another window will open with a link to the microsoft site explaining the error and what may be wrong and some instructions.)
If you feel confident, follow those instructions, but if you are not sure, best leave it alone until you find somebody who is confident enough to do it. You can always right is all down to show someone or study later for yourself.
The errors that I found was outside my computer and was with the site I was accessing not recognising my IP address, so I know it wasn't anything wrong with my computer so I didn't have to do anything. The crash I experienced was beyond my control and it wouldn't shut down because it was waiting for instructions from the Internet that it wasn't getting. Re-starting solved the problem.

This is good news to many of us derek_a, so that way when we have the same problem like it is it wouldn't be too hard now for us to look for a solution because you have shown and given it already through this discussion you have post. It's been really a great help for many and thank you so much for this internet problem solution. Goodluck to you!
