upset

#I took my family out for bunch this morning, was thinking about having a great time together, but ending up to be a disappointing or rather upset morning. We went there and they told me they didn't have the reservation for me, than we have to wait 20 minutes before we were seated, and than we were seated in a different room than everyone else. That is not what I was upset about. What I was upset was, that they have a waitress to wait on us, and the entire waitress did was bring us water, and than the check at the end of our meal. She didn't do anything else in between. She didn't ask if we need anything or how is everything or how is how meal. And the restaurant let her charge 15% tips on the total of our meal. Now do I have the right to be upset? Poor service, poor food, poor judgment, they even charge a kid's meal as an adult. Or should I just as nothing happened or is I over reacting? I don't want to be a bad person. But how could they do that? Also how can they let the waitress charge percentage on people's meal? I understand that some people don't tip. But isn't this like promoting bad service to the costumer? I mean bad service they still get rewarding because the money now is guaranteed. what would you do? would you be upset like me?

In my country in each reastaurants, shop, hotels, bars, patrolstation, so everywhere the owner must have a custemer-book. It is must. It is an offical book. If a customer is disappointed in the service he may ask for it, and he may write his opinion about the service. Each notes achive the strict control by the offical institutes. (I can not translate it better.) But I suppose it is not a hungarian speciality, so you could write into the customers book.

In some countries, tipping is required, I think it was set up at 10%? And as you said, sometimes, the restaurant itself impose the tip by charging it in your bill. I would be upset just as well, instead of having a nice time with your family you ended up miserable, because you were not served well, and overcharged! In these situations, I would not really hesitate to approach the manager and tell him/her my opinion on the service given. Any business establishment depends on the happiness of the customer, and your comments should be valuable to them. If the manager gets the information, he is obliged to inform the said waitress and ask her to improve or else. Worse case scenario, the manager would ignore your comments and let things be... Now that is bull. But don't forget karma.... Most assuredly you are not the only customer who experienced this, and eventually they will lose more customers if they do not shape up, eventually either changing the management or simply closing the shop down, and them losing their jobs. Ah, thinking too much in advance..lol If these situations come to me, I would do what I think would best calm me down, and then let it go... It's better that you are the one who is on the good side than not! I should not be the one who cannot sleep at night because of being miserable of things like these! Cheers!

All together sounds like not funny. First, I wouldn't go to that place anymore. Secondary, I hate mandatory tipping...if I am not happy, I don't tip. I would send letter with all of my concerns to restaurant and copy to Chamber of Commerce. This way they have to respond to you letter...and you can be at least be sure that it won't happen again...

You definitely have a reson to be upset. I am sorry that you could not enjoy. I think the concept of compulsory service charge is wrong. Because tips is always about the fact that how happy the customer with the service of that particualr restaurant or the person who serve. Why one should pay 15% extra if the service is so poor. I would not go again to place like that. That is so unprofessional of them.

You have every reson to be upset. If i were you, i would have complained right away. Call them up and tell them something needs to be done. This is utterly ridiculous. You had terrible service and were charged a tip when the waitress didn't deserve one. This ensures the waitress a tip no matter what. That is utter BS.
