My son has a project due on May 24th for his science class. We need to make a container that will hold a raw egg and when it is dropped from 50 feet in the air it won't break. There are a few rules we have to follow, it CANNOT need to be refridgerated, the package/container has to weigh at least 1 pound and the no side of the package/container can be longer than 30 cm. Parachutes and wings may be used but an extra paragraph will have to be written to explain how these have helped and what rules of science apply.
I do have an idea of how we can do this but because I am not really scientificly minded i am looking for as many different ideas as possible.

Hello dragonokiefly!(",)
There are many ways that you can do for your son's egg dropping project. Just last week I was able to talk to a friend about the egg dropping contest he had joined when he was in high school. He told me that most of the contestants used styrofoam as their base and then plastic for parachute.
What he did is that he formed a box out paper and fill it with flour or cornstarch then made a parachute out of plastic bag bought in the market. I don't know the sizes but it did work because he won the contest. Hope that this can help you site an idea for your son's egg dropping contest. Good luck and great day!(",)

Thank you so much for the idea. We will give it a shot on our trail runs and see if it will work better than the idea I had but the logic of flour cushioning the egg makes a lot of sense.
