Handmade book binding

A handmade book I created. - This book was constructed using a glue strip method and a covered recycled cover. The interior pages are calendar pages, old book pages, brown paper and magazine pages. I embellished the cover using clippings from old book pages.

Do you create handmade books? What are your favorite materials to work with? What is your favorite way to bind books together? How did you learn how to bind books? Do you sell the books you bind or give them away? Here are my answers: I've been addicted to bookbinding since 2003. My favorite materials to work with are unusual papers, recycled covers, magazine pages and other mixed media art elements. My favorite way to bind them together is either stitching or using glue strips. I've been selling handmade books online since 2004.

I usually use leather bindings and handmade paper to create my books, but I also hardback favourite paperbacks for fun, wven though I know they won't be of archive quality. With the mixed media, how do you ensure the finished book will be of archive quality if you are selling them? I'd woirry about different elements aging faster than the rest, do you have a special treatment to make sure that doesnt happen?
