Passing Gas

Yup, I know it's a gross or funny subject but....
I was raised that you don't fart near people. I was raised that you don't burp or belch near others. I was raised that you went to your bedroom or the bathroom or outside to do any of these things. I notice a lot of people these days just farting in malls, restuarants etc.. in fact my co-worker sitting right here less than 3 feet away has been belching all day. Frankly I want to puke. I find it rude and it smells. I really don't want to smell his gas! Am I being weird by being offended by this?
Do you fart and burp wherever? Or is it something you try to keep to yourself? Is it completely appropriate to just let the gas go?

I'm like you and very modest when it comes to my bodily functions. I have been with my fiance for 2 1/2 years now and known him for over 10 years and I still don't like farting or burping in front of him, much less in front of people I don't know very well. But on the other hand he farts and burps around me all the time. The only time my modesty has ever gone out the window was when I was in labor with my daughter. When I was in that pain I didn't care who saw me doing what lol.

Here in UK if you are eating at a friends house be sure to burp loudly after the meal to show you appreciated it. If you do not your host will be most offended and she might think you did not enjoy the meal

I try to control my passing gas at every possible opportunity...
Unless the only person around is my boyfriend or close friends.
It's funny because one of my friends has a habit of always telling me beforehand if she's going to pass gas. She actually warns me to go far away.
My belching is another matter. I don't think I could ever control my burp. But I always say excuse me after I've done it.

I'd be grossed out too if I were you if that makes you feel any better!LOL!
I am a pretty modest person, so I try to avoid burping and/or passing gas at ALL costs. I do let a tiny belch out occasionally if I'm drinking soda or something, but I don't think that is nearly as bad as farting in public...that is just nasty IMHO.
