My day begins when it's still night. You ask why the dark causes me no fright. It's because my Lady Moon is watching over me, and if any harm should come my way she'll send a shining star to guide me 'till the break of day. The peaceful calm of day still night refreshes me. It's not the man in the moon I look to see. It's my beautiful Lady Moon watching my way 'till Father Sun comes up to warm my day. Written By: ME Copyrighted May 1991 How do these words make you feel?

I rather enjoyed it. I work midnight shift, so your Lady Moon and I are very close friends..lol. You are very talented. I entered a poetry contest years ago, actually my sister entered me into it. She also put some of my poems up on Poetry.com. I am very uncomfortable with putting my stuff out there, but you are good.

misheleen, If your poetry is any bit as insightful as your words are here I am sure they are thought provoking and beautiful. I too am uncomfortable bearing my soul to others as with my poetry it seems a lot of it has dual meanings and was written during sad times in my life. They are in a way healing words. I also fear they will not be liked and critiqued harshly. I have come to realize that to grow in writing I must take that chance and welcome all critiques, good or bad, and learn from them. Another fear is that they will be stolen and pubished by another. Some have already been published through contests so I have that on my side and I have hand written and dated copies as well as the tone of my writings being similar to protect me from that. If you should ever decide to share your poetry I would love to read it. Again, thank you for responding!

Safe - comforted by the thought that the moom is there to keep us from harm until the sun comes up and takes over. Interested at the thought of the son and moon being shiftworkers. I like the use of personification witth Father moon, it is also a bit of a contaradictory term if you think of the job of a father, to provide for and look after his children, it could be said that the sun does as much damage as it does good. All in all a beautiful and thought provoking poen. Thank you

Thank you toni for your response and thoughts. I had not ever realized the contradiction before. You gave me a new way to look at my words.
