I am reading this book by David Crowder "Building a website for dummies". It is very interesting and I am learning a lot of stuff that I am sure many people will benefit from learning too as a lot of us have blogs/websites. This discussion is about joining web rings to improve your ranking within search engines. Web rings are a kind of reciprocal link arrangement. Instead of making two reciprocal links between two sites, you make it with an entire group of similar sites at a time. You can find web rings on just about any topic you can think of, and many such rings are listed at webring.org and ringsurf.com. you can also start your web ring. The problem with web rings is that they link in a ring. In other words, each one links to the previous one in the list. So if any site drops out of the ring, that messes up the whole thing.
