Can you belioeve this atrocity?
5000 wild animals have been found abanded on a broken down boat off the coast of Southern China.
More than 3000 crates were discovered holding lizards, tortoises, turtles and pangolins.
The animals were barely alive after being exposed to the sun.
Authorities also found 21 polar bears on the boat, with one having its paw hacked off.
The boat had apparently broken down, & it's owners disappeared..
* I have to say that I am glad that my daughter joined China's Moon Bears rescue program when she was 8 years old.

This does not surprise me at all. It's a typical story of Chinese cruelty and indifference to the suffering that they inflict on defenseless living creatures. Some time ago I posted a discussion on the Chinese fur farms which has links to information about this.

My daughter belongs to Animals Asia, which specifically deals with the cruelty to Moon Bears in China.

That just makes me so angry. They should hunted down and prosecuted and the united nations should get involved. The world must unite against this horrible crimminal offense....They should ban the sales of all products containing these animal parts and impose penalties on sellers or buyers. This makes you want to hurl and thers no excuse for it. They can patrol their waters and enforce laws just like the coast guard does....

Yes, I think the World should get involved in this sort of atrocity.

How sad and horrible that the boat owners would leave these animals caged like this with no chance to fend for themselves even. I hope they find who did this and punish them.

My guess is that the vast majority would have been put down, as they were in a bad state.

I have read the story and my heart was broken. I know that animal abuse is much more popular in china although government is working on to protect those creatures but no obvious results is are seen. I wish the government must enhance its supervision and management power to fully stop this nonhumanism behavior. Wake up China!

that's terrible... and the owner is so irresponsible... i'm glad that the animals are still alive when they found them... hopefully all of them are OK... the owner has to be punished severely for doing this... it is just heartless and cruel...

That is horrible!! What is wrong with people?? Some people will do anything to make a dollar! I hope they are able to find out who that boat belongs to. I know in the US they have VIN type numbers that can be traced (of course this can be bogus info) do they not have that kind of thing in China?
What is the Moon Bear Rescue? I've not heard of it before?

the owner probably was thinking to return and continue his or her plan, this could be why the animals were abandoned there still locked. I don't know what kind of law they have in China about animal abuser, but I wish this person the worst in life, for he or she has done this to other living beings

That is horrible! I can't believe that people still try to make a living doing that to harmless animals. No wonder we have so many animals on endagered species list. And I bet whoever had to abandon that boat is not worried about the health and welfare of those poor creatures, they are just concerned over the money they are losing having to leave them there! I too hope they are caught and seriously punished!!!! I hope that all those animals make it, I am glad they were found and I hope that they are not damaged too badly!

Wow, that is just horrible! If people are going to import/export animals, they should do it humanely and provide adequate food and shelter at least. I hope they catch the owners!

I followed your link to read the article. Unfortunately there are many who put greed over the welfare of animals and even people for that matter. But animals are more innocent and helpless once trapped. Hopefully all of us will be more aware and help when and where we can.
