My 6 (almost 7) year old son loves to make things out of sticks. He must get his building skills from his father (my husband) as DH loves to build things. Neither of us showed our son how to build things from scratch, though he is a little familiar with legos and other building toys. But still, he never built things out of the premade toys like he does from scratch. He always wants mom and dad to do it for him.:P Anyway, my 6 year old built the plane seen in the picture below. I only helped him break two of the sticks in half when he asked for help. Other than that he built it all on his own. He has built other little stick planes out of popsicle sticks, but never anything like this! When my son was finished with it we showed his father what he had made. And let me tell you his dad was IMPRESSED!!!
Do your kids ever amaze you? Or have you ever amazed someone? Please share your thoughts.

i don't have kids yet. but wow. you have an impressive son. maybe his intelligence and creativity is inherited from you both combined... ofcourse! so, lucky son to have you as his parents and lucky you to have him as your son.
i am not a mother yet. but i am amazed at how clever kids nowadays are. just like a 3 year old boy that i knew. he can operate computers already. like he knows where his games on the computers are located... which are and which file. then he does things himself. he even can play basketball and car racing games in it and he does play great.
happy mylotting!

He did a wonderful job, I am also impressed. My middle child also does things of this nature. He is 7 years old. He has been able to make unique things with just a few materials. Its always fun to watch a childs mind at work. Tell your son to keep up the good work.

That's adorable. I love it! Tell him he did a wonderful impressive job! My 7 year old is like that. He can make anything with tape and a couple of materials. He is very resourceful!!! I don't know where he gets it fron (my boy). I love the plane though, haha how creative!!! Maybe he will be an architect or something similar when he grows up!

That is so wonderful that your son is doing this at such a young age. My oldest son has always been like this - building things from scratch on his own but I don't think he started doing it until he was 12 or 13. He's also always been very artistic and even when young he could look at something and put it on paper so it looked exactly the same as the original. My youngest also does this.

!BRAVO!!!
you have a gifted child there. Won't it be interesting to see how he developes this interest and ability as he grows up? maybe he will be a famous engineer one day.
He obviously has a mechanical/mathematic mind.
is he really advanced with problem solving, at his tender age, as well?

My daughter is a toddler and uses a computer. LOL! That's just so funny, how modern kids can be so intelligent and advanced. When I was growing up I was just into crayons and playing outside when I was her age. I guess I'd have to say that I'm most impressed by her smarts.

Congrats to your little one for building such a fine looking airplane. Mine is not old enough yet to do such things. But, she amazes me daily with her vocabulary. What amazes me more is her capacity for compassion and caring. If I have a headache, she will come over to me and try to act like my mom. When she grows up I know that these traits will stay with her and help her be a good mom. Best of luck.
