We're planning a fishing trip to Devil's Lake in a couple of weeks. There are 7 of us going altogether. 3 of us are 8, 6, and almost 3 years old. I'm wondering if anyone knew of things that we can do with the kids to keep them entertained while the grown-ups take turns out in the boat. Any parks, kid friendly museums? Bike trails?
Any help on this would be welcomed! It should be a fun trip, if I can keep my kids entertained! LOL!

I drive through Devil's Lake sometimes when I go home. It's pretty decent sized (for ND!). I'm not really sure what all there is to do there, but I know they have several fast food places and a Walmart. I would assume they have some parks, but I'm not positive of this.
Sorry I can't give you more information. I just drive through when we are going to Grand Forks (we're stationed at Minot right now) or when we know there is going to be construction if we go the other way, through Bismarck.

Thanks for your help. :) I'm happy to know that there is a walmart... at least I don't have to worry about taking too many groceries with me, and I can get them there. I am excited about the trip, and am hoping the kids enjoy themselves as well. If you happen to be coming through DL the middle of June, look us up. :)

I wish I was going with you! I love to go fishing and so do my children. The only thing is, when you take children fishing you usually spend more time untangling their lines than doing anything else. I have never been to Devil's lake though.. How long are you planning to be gone?

I know what you mean about untangling the fishing line. My dad got smart and put a small amount of line on their poles, so they don't go out too far.
We're going for a week. We'll be leaving home on Sat., driving all the way to Fargo, ND. and spending the night there. Then it's another 6 hours to devil's lake. Thank goodness for the portable DVD player! The kids enjoy being read to in the car, and I found some really fun chapter books to occupy that time.
Our thought was 2 adults, one kid in the boat at a time. my dad is the one who wants to fish (well, the rest of us do too, but not to the extent that he does.) That will leave 2 adults and 2 kids together at a time to find other things to do.
