Hey guys or should I say gals. I thought I would share some inmportant tips with you about the use of color when making soap. I find this to be interesting, and I hope that you do to. Colors like scents, trigger positive and negative emotions and have an affect on our moods. Here are some recognized positive sensations associated with colors:Red, crimson- Stimualting, passionate, and arousing. Intense, powerful, and hot. Pink, rose- Soft and delicate. Feminine and sweet. Orange, amber- Exciting, invigorating, jovial, exuberant, bright, stimulating, cheering, comforting, and secure. Coral- Mellow, glowing, and balancing. Brown- Earthy, natural, comforting, stable, refined, and soothing. Yellow- Sunny, electric, enlightened, bright, energizing, cheerful, life giving, and joyous. Gold, Ochre- Warming, enriching, enhancing, and creative. Green, emerald- Relaxing, and restful (Think of nature, freshness, and health)- its the new neutral that all other colors look good beside. Watch, balance, tranquil, refreshing, and sensitive. Celadon- Restful. Lime green- refreshing, natural Blue, sapphire- Calming and relaxing, restful, trusting, comfortable, cool; lowers blood pressure. Light blue- misting, cooling Aquamarine- stimulating, cheerful Violet- Subduing, imaginative, romantic, enchanting, rich, royal, and charming. Deep Plum- Spiritual White- Light, celestial, innocent, pure, clean, and good. Cream, Parchment, Ecru- Warm, simple, and Harmonious. Black- Luxurious, powerful, elegant, dignified, and mysterious. Gray- Neutral, quiet, and calm. Just remember that food coloring is not suitable for soaps (the color quickly fades) or for bath oils (the dye isn't soluable in oil and just sits on top of the oil as floating beads of concentrated color However, use small amounts of food coloring to tint bath salts and bubble baths. I hope that you have found this useful. Please let me know if you make any soaps and please share pictures. Lets get others excited about this craft. It is fun and easy to do. P.S. Click on the picture to see how tint and scent can create a mood.

Hi Gewcew, I always love your recipes and tips for soap making. I saw pictures of your soaps and candles that you make yourself and I just love them. I hope I will learn from you how to make my own. I agree these tips are very interesting. I will copy and paste it in the word document that I created just for your lovely recipes. Yes colors and scents trigger positive and negative emotions so we need to avoid the negative ones. Good to know that the food coloring is not suitable for soaps and bath oils. I was looking for natural and cheap way to color soaps but I guess there is no way heh? Okay good to know that. Well you know what gewcew, I will have to study well your recipes and find where to buy the ingredients, maybe online like ebay would be more interesting than local stores... But I will sure start making my own soap soon! Thank you gewcew!

I am sorry it was a picture of the heart shaped candle and soaps.

I was looking on ebay for some new items since everyone has made me want to get back to soap making, any ways here is a person selling this is the description of the auction: Fragrance Oils** Strong! 100% Pure! UNCUT- SIX (6)- 2 ML Sample-size vials - One vial each of the following fragrances Scented Fragrance Aroma Oils: BLUEBERRY CHEESECAKE, HONEYSUCKLE, BABY POWDER, SATSUMA, COCONUT, and JASMINE. Now these are just 2 ML but that should get you started and let you smell some of them before buying a big bottle. I know that Hobby Lobby has baby powder and coconut. The bottles you buy at hobby Lobby are $2.99 each. This auction is only $4.39 which includes shipping. I will include the link they have several auctions and they have an online store but I haven't been to it yet. http://cgi.ebay.com/LOT-of-6-FRAGRANCE-OILS-for-Making-CANDLES-and-SOAP_W0QQitemZ170118510436QQihZ007QQcategoryZ28117QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I am just getting into soap making, so it is nice to see there are so many conversations on here relating to it. I am definitely a novice!!! But this will help me out tremendously. Thank you so much! A question for all of you on here. Do you do this strictly as a hobby or do some of you sell your soaps? Please let me know!

Thank you for this information. I don't have any pictures right now... but http://www.angelfire.com/fl5/soap0/page3.html is the link to our old website. This was a very beginning type of thing and that had only a few of our first styles and scents. We really did a lot of craft shows and festivals and did most of our business word of mouth rather than online.

Thanks for the great tips. I've never made soap before, but I have made candles. After reading your other post on soap making I have decided to give it a try. These tips should give me some help with both.
