My daughter (almost 16), has finished her first shift at 'Wendy's,' and will be going in for her 2nd one this afternoon.
After viewing 'extensive' safety and customer service dvds, she was 'immediately' assigned to duty at the front counter.
Her 'trainer' although 'reasonably nice,' according to my daughter, had a 'very abrupt' manner, and immediately made her feel 'incompetent.'
He 'the trainer,' then put another employee in charge of my daughter's 'orientation,' and things ran much smoother.
My daughter told me, that this was because of the 'overall congenial manner, and encouragement' of the female employee now assigned to her training.
A number of years ago, I was assigned to 'train' several employees, and was 'told' by my manager, that she gave me the training job, because of my 'patience, and encouraging attitude.' This just comes naturally to me, as 'each person' has their own way of handling things.
What has your 'on the job training' experience been, as a new employee?
How did it affect your overall performance?
Have 'you' ever been 'The Trainer?'
If so, what techniques do you use?
