MiniDV vs. Hard Drive Camcorders: The Verdict

Although I love the miniDV cameras out there (Canon XL-2, Panasonic AG-DVX100A), I'm starting to wonder if Hard Drive Digital Video has finally come to maturity. Does anyone have any opinions on this subject? The camera that I would consider using for home-brew films and simple video (with 1080i and a Hard Drive) is probably the JVC Everio GZ-HD7. Feel free to disagree, I'll check on this and mark the best answer that comes.
