Where do the socks go? Some say that dryers are doorways to another dimension. Or that there is some fairy or some such entity that takes them. Over time you can retrieve other 'strays' and maybe match them up. Good luck with this mystery.

I cant tell you why but I can tell you where. I read a book and it was amazing. I have copied and pasted the book review thing form amazing for you cos I loved it millions and millions and its one of those books that changes you perspective on life. Synopsis The magical new novel from the number 1 bestselling author of "PS, I Love You" and "Where Rainbows End". Since Sandy Shortt's childhood schoolmate disappeared twenty years ago, Sandy has been obsessed with missing things. Finding becomes her goal - whether it's the odd sock that vanished in the washing machine, the car keys she misplaced in her rush to get to work or the graver issue of finding the people who vanish from their lives. Sandy dedicates her life to finding these missing people, offering devastated families a flicker of hope. Jack Ruttle is one of those desperate people. It's been a year since his brother, Donal vanished into thin air and the sleepless nights and frantic days aren't getting any easier. Thinking Sandy Shortt could well be the answer to his prayers, he embarks on a quest to find her. But, when Sandy goes missing too, her search ends when she stumbles upon the place - and people - she's been looking for all of her life. A world away from her loved ones and the home she ran from for so long, Sandy soon resorts to her old habit again, searching. Though this time, she is desperately trying to find her way home! Please get it and read it cos really it will change your life. here is the link for amazon for you http://www.amazon.co.uk/Place-Called-Here-Cecelia-Ahern/dp/0007198906

i don't know! i think maybe theres something going on in that dryer that even we as intelligent people cannot comprehend. sock munchers, they have a voracious appetite when subjected to heat, but they also need variety. they will only eat one sock at a time. because they are not wastefull they will consume the whole sock before moveing on to the next, something of a different flavor, this is why we only lose one matching sock at a time

People always talk about losing socks in the dryer... I'm 50 years old and I have never lost a sock in the dryer, the washer, or anywhere. How does one lose a silly sock????
