Which is better, public or private school?

I'm mixed up with the question of where to educate my children. A friend says it doesn't matter what kind of school she has, it has to do with the child's own intelligence quotient. Some says, children with low capacity to have knowledge do better in private schools. Now, which is which?

hi there! ;0 honestly, your friend is right. no matter where you put a child, it just mainly depends on his intellectual capacity. like they say, "like a good plant that blooms wherever he or she is planted" but for me, if i have children of my own, i would really prefer sending them to a private school, because in our country, which is the philippines, the facilities of the provate and public schools are really different. ;0 and, i think the education is really better when it comes to private schools, aside from the ambience and the environment being prepared for the children. :) God bless! ;0

We live in the same country and I think schools from other lands are not being discriminated. Thanks to that good advice!

I think both school have their own pros and cons about them. You need to decide what you think is best for your kids, what kind of cirriculum you want them to learn, and if your kids need extra help or is tougher courses. I know some private schools have different rules and regulations that public schools. So you need to know every thing about them and see if you agree with them or not. If you don't. Than that will not be a school to send your child to.

One thing I would definatly look at is not the childs capacity to learn but how the worst students do. I know that sounds strange but bear with me for a moment! A class can only go as fast as the slowest student. Since the whole "no child left behind" initiative Teachers have to make sure that all the kids in the class understand the material before moving on. While it is a good idea in theory, the reality is that the more intelligent students get bored. Private school doesn't take this as far as public school does, but it can still be an issue. I would make sure that no matter what school you choose if this is going to become an issue for your child then make sure they have a good "gifted" program. I have recently decided to pull my oldest out of school and home school her because of several reasons, I can't afford to send her to private school, and i don't like the way she is being taught in school. There are pros and cons to whatever you decide to do with this. Good luck with you decision!
