Telephone Services Through Cable Providers: Do you have it..Is it good?

Hi..my cable company is introducing their own phone service..it's going to hook through the landline and through a special modem. I know many people must already have this service.. Can anyone tell me their experience.. This is not vonage..or other..it is through the cable service..and would like some feedback as to what you think of voip and if you have phone service through cable?
