Do you own a condo? if so, do you live in it, rent it out as an investment, or use it as a summer or winter retreat? I live in a condo and enjoy the life style...not having to take care of the external property, etc. but having an investment in the property instead of flushing money down the drain as one does with rent. Your thoughts?

No, I don't own a condo, not even a house myself yet. I might not good at with my money, and I might not good at manage my finance. I always overuse it and spend it mostly from the credit card. So, I always owe debt and debt. I never get this determinism on my heart to tackle down this debt even though I have the ability to do so. I felt shame on myself.

I own a house. I have thought about a condo though. It seems that it may be a good thing for me. I am having problems keeping up with the yard work. I do hate the thought of living so close to other people though. I have been told that with condos you have to pay a maintenance fee for trash and yard work. I still think that a house is better it is all mine and I think I will get more out of the house when I resell than a condo when I want to sell.

no i do not live in a condominium unit nor do i own one. i am settled comfortably in a house and lot. until now, i can never entertain the idea of settling down in a high rise residential unit. i understand that there is not much choice for those who are living in the city. i have already applied for one long ago while, i was still living in manila where single detached houses were already available only in very far places. before i finally settled there though, i have finally considered coming home to my hometown. my downpayment for the unit was forfeited then.

Nope... Although I actually like the look of them and I wish that someday I may own one which I can stay in when I visit friends in America. I'd also like a house to but that would be here the united kingdom. Kudos, ~Joey

I wouldn't mind living in a condo but my hubby prefer to own a house. I always thought a condo would be nice.

I used to live in a condo before I reinlisted in the Marines and I hated it, I hated owning something and then having to pay an assocation fee and them telling you what you could can could not do

Many are waking up to the benefits of condo living. many folks enjoy the carefree lifestyle of condo living. The condo association takes care of such things as exterior building upkeep and maintenance, landscaping, insurance and security. The concept of "lock and leave" is appealing to those who enjoy the active lifestyle.

I used to have a house but due to family matters I had to move to another city. I sold my house and bought a condo. At first I was very unhappy and felt confined even though it is a three bedroom two baths condo. Then I broke my right arm at the shoulder and could not do much for many months. I was so grateful I did not have to do grass, snow and maintenance. Now I made some friends in the building which is fun.I have noticed that the value of my condo has gone up so I am glad I made that investment.

I think condos are great. I don't live in one but the idea of owning one has crossed my mind. I think it is great for especially for retired people. That way they do not have to worry about taking care of the external property.

Welll, I don't own a condo. But I do own the 4 bedroom house I live in. Plus I do havce an investment property at Penneshaw, Kangaroo Island. I rent it out. At the moment I do't mind taking care of the property, but I guess there will come a ime wghen it gets too much. Owning property is a good investment.

I agree with you about throwing your money away by paying rent, but we looked at a condo and they wanted too much for a small 1 bedroom w/den. We found a house that we liked, 2 bedrooms/2 full bathrooms/1 car garage with a formal dining and living room, family room and small pool for less than the price of the forementioned condo. We couldn't be happier!
