Can you really express yourself through writing it out?

Writing, whether it be on paper or on your pc is a great way to get a log off your mind. A lot of people journal daily and it makes them feel a lot better. At one time I actually wrote letters to my Dad who had passed away and it made me feel very close to him even though he wasn't here.

It does for me, but that is simply because I get a sense of closure to some level on the venting. Many things that drive me nuts or depress me I just want someone to listen to me for a minute.
I know others who as they express it, let it grow and feed on itself and it makes them worse.

I think so. Not only does it calm you down, often it puts things into persepctive. Years ago I used to journal when I was sad, angry or depressed and by the time my hand was sore from writing, I was calmer and more clear headed.
