What happened to the prize inside?

Does anyone notice that cereal rarely has prizes inside anymore? I remember when I was a kid you could buy things like Lucky Charms and Trix and Frosted Flakes and all those sugary good cereals and find a nice prize inside. Nothing spectacular, but still a prize! It was always so much fun. Now a days as I walk down the cereal aisle in the grocery store I'm amazed at the lack of prizes. Mostly they are mail in prizes (5 UPC's plus 6.95 s&h) or there is no prize at all! Just like Cracker Jacks. You used to get a real prize, now you get a piece of paper with a joke on it. Where did all the prizes go?

For real. If you do get a prize now it's lame. My husband got a water squirter the other day and the head popped off when he squeezed it. He wanted an XBox 360 beanie hat but he had to send in a ton of those UPC things. Bring back the real prizes!!

Was it a spiderman water squiter? I got one of them from rice krispies and gave it to my 4 year old nephew. I got a shrek light that you can put over your ear from...I think rice krispies also! It just amazes me that cereals cost soo much money and yet the prizes probably cost 2 cents to manufacture. Why am I paying close to 5 bucks for a box of cereal with no prize.

It was the Spiderman! It was one of the characters and it was already kinda broke. I need to go into the cereal toy business and bring back the good stuff.:) Do you remember when McDonalds had really awesome toys too?

That's totally true. McDonalds and other fast food restaurants quality of toys suck. It makes you wonder why the prices of things go up when the quality of prizes go down. honestly. The Toy business definitely needs new employees I think!
