I never have. I live in a small town and I have seen no beggers. My husband has been to St. Louis and has seen many. In the big city, I understand it is quite common. Have you ever seen a begger on the street? Have you ever given them money, or do you disregard them? If I was to see a begger, I would not give money? If a begger has the time to beg on the street for money, they obviously have the time to search for a job. If they would take a bath and clean themselves up a bit, they can easily find a job, even if it be a fast food restraunt. So tell all your opinions on this.

I live in a large city of just over a million people, and we have a great many beggers and homeless. If the begger was a veteran and was disabled,I would be happy and proud to be able to help with what I could, but as there are so many places looking for employies, that if an ablebodied person would rather beg than work for a living,I would only head them in the direction of the employment office.

I have seen beggars, old, young, handicapped and children too. What I normally do is that I will just give what I can give. I think they can do work but who wants to go to work if they can earn free money?

I live in a large city and the police try hard to keep the beggars off the streets. But you see them at busy intersections or off-ramps holding a sign saying they need help, they are homeless, etc. I don't usually give them anything because I know that our city has plenty of agencies to help them. There are food banks and shelters and places that give free clothing. And most people can find some kind of job if they are willing to work hard for little pay. Sometimes there are disabled people on the sidewalk begging for money. It is pathetic because I know there are ways they can get help. Even the disabled can work in sheltered workshops or at places like Goodwill or the Salvation Army. I do help some folks financially who are trying to make it in low paying jobs or who are just temporarily out of work. I'm not cold hearted, but I believe that giving to people who could be finding their own resources just enables them to be more dependent.

yeah.i have seen beggers on road side and near temples begging.really i hate most of the beggers becoz i think they have taken it up as a job which is easy to make money.i see so many kind hearted people putting coins in their bowls.but i dont like to help the people who are in good age and have power to work.i often give money to the beggers who is really in want of food ,extremely old who cannot find food for himeself and sometimes for phisically hadicapped

some places they are not allowed to panhandle. unfortunately here, it's still legal. but it's a pain. there are too many stories here and that's why i DO disregard them. one of our friends owns a business, he pulled over and told the gentleman he could come work for him for one day, he needed some extra help, and said he would simply pay him under the table. the panhandler FLIPPED HIM OFF....didn't want work, wanted to sit on his butt all day, shoot that's easy money for them, cash, no taxes nothing. and then another friend offered money and the guy asked him, "that's ALL you can spare?" how rude!! at least he got SOMETHING, where's the thank you's? they just get in the way, try to make you feel guilty. AND one other friend was at a stoplight, watched the panhandler WALK OVER TO HIS OWN CAR...a NICE car...he got in and left...our friend was like, "man, he got THAT car from earning THAT money on the street? that's the way to do it, haha." he couldn't believe it. neither could i.
