Have you seen Serenity on the "big screen"?

I know that many fans of Firefly and Serenity came late to the show. They didn't get the chance to watch the show on TV, and they didn't go see the movie in the theater. I am one of those people. :) I had a friend show me two episodes at his apartment one night, and I was hooked. But I felt like I missed out on not seeing Serenity on the "big screen." Well, now I can! On June 23, theaters all over the place are having a special screening for Serenity, to benefit Equality Now (http://www.equalitynow.org/). If you want to know if you can see Serenity in your town, check out: http://www.cantstoptheserenity.com/

Hooray! More browncoats on mylot! I am proud to say that I too attended one of the special advanced screenings. This was before the film was even finished, but I sat at my computer and somehow managed to get tickets anyway. It was really a great experience. People went in costume, sang songs, all cheered and cried during the movie. After that, I think I went to go see it 3 more times. Each time I loved it and I think I've watched the series even more than that. Thanks for letting more people know about the charity screenings. Equality Now is a really great and they do some extremely important work.

I am definitely looking forward to dressing up for this one! I will probably try to revive my Kaylee costume, and see if my fiance wants to go as Shepherd Book (my fiance has very long hair, so pretty much all of the other male characters are out).

I dressed as Kaylee too for one of the screenings. It was pretty easy because I got a green flight suit online. One girl at the screening took the time to make the blue mandarin jacket and rainbow umbrella. She looked amazing.

The jacket is out of my league, but I'm always looking for an umbrella. If I can find a plain white one, I don't mind painting it myself. :)

Yay, another browncoat at mylot! I did see Serenity on the big screen...in fact I was lucky enough to see a special advanced showing of Serenity before it was released it theaters...actually it was before it was even finished. And the actors who played Inara and Simon where there too. It was an amazing night, very emotional as you can imagine :-) I haven't been to one of these charity screenings, but I know that Joss Whedon is a great supporter of Equality Now and these charity screening are an important way for the fandom to give back a little. DId you read Joss's post on Whedonesque about the "honor killing" of a youngMiddle Eastern girl. It was heartbreaking...Here it is if you wnt to read it.... http://whedonesque.com/comments/13271#more

This also coincides with Joss's birthday, so it's no surprise that the event is going to support a charity organization that he feels strongly about! (And yes, I've been a Browncoat since my first episode! :) )

I watched Serenity at the theatre the weekend it opened. I made it part of a triple header sort of thing and watched 3 movies all that same day..SERENITY, A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE, and INTO THE BLUE

I didn't get a chance to see it on the big screen the first time, but as you know Browncoats love getting special showings ever few years. I was able to see it on the big screen after it was out of the theater! :D I couldn't have been happier.

Have been away from here for months and just logged back in and saw this,so,better late than Never :) Firefly didn't make it to Terrestrial TV here in Northern Ireland-It's been shown on Satellite here recently, and I made a point of watching the episodes, despite having my DVD box set parked on top of my player! I got to see the BDM on it's cinema release here,Loved it,(despite not knowing anything about the back story),went home and started searching the net for this thing called Firefly the movie was based on..A marathon viewing of the box set after it's arrival later,a Browncoat was born..
