I recently started buying more and more silicone bakeware molds to replace glass and metal ones that have seen better days. Does anyone else prefer the silicone ones to metal or glass bakeware? Out of all the brands I have tried, Wilton seems to be the best and the least expensive.

Most can be heated up to 500 degrees F but there are some industrial ones that can be heated up to 575 degrees F.

I have not tried the silicone ones yet. How do you like them? What makes them better than the glass or metal bakeware? I love to bake that is why I am asking. I prefer to use glass bakeware over the metal ones. As I can see ho wmy dish is cooking. i also can tell if it is starting to get brown to much on bottom. Thus saving me from burning something.

The remind of of ice cube trays, just give them a twist and whatever you have baked in them, pops out easily.

I don't really know why but I am interested about the health effects of using silicon vs glass. Does anyone have any information on that? It wasn't so long ago that non-stick cookware was shown to be hazardous to health and this decades is after they were introduced to the market. So...just wondering.

The silicone that is used is FDA approved and completely safe .. well, at least that is what they are telling us today. 20 years from now it may be a different story.
