I hate cherry pits

So cherries were on sale, and we bought a BIG bag of them last night. I have a handful in my lunch today, and I am remembering why I rarely buy cherries--aside from the high price, I really hate having to deal with the pits!
I bet someone has invented a way to get the pits out of cherries easily... but I'm stuck trying to work them out of the cherry with my tongue. Tricky, and no fun!

I think that part of it is the atmosphere in which you are eating the cherries. When I have them in my lunch at work, it's difficult to really spit the pits out tastefully. At home, my fiance doesn't care if I am spitting the pits into a bowl or my hand. :)

I love cherries. I have always looked at the pits being there as a way to keep me from eating too many (which is a bad thing for me).

I love cherries! The pits don't bother me. I'll just pop the whole cherry into my mouth, extract the juicy goodness and spit the seed out. yummy.
wish they weren't so expensive and rare in my country either. in countries that grow it, it's usually quite cheap when in season!

You would think that there would some scientist somewhere that would be working on developing a cherry that could grow without a pit! They did it with grapes, why couldn't they do it with Cherries! I love cherries as well, but I wish they wouldn't be so darn expensive!

Actually, someone has invented a cherry pitter. I do not have one, but I have seen them. It is this little metal thing that you plunge into a cherry and out comes the seed. It seems like an awful lot of work to me. I just pop them in my mouth and teat the cherry and spit the see out.

The pits may be annoying but the taste is just so damn good that it is worth the work to have the cherry! They are my favorite fruit!
