I must admit that i normally don't, because limits in spain are ridiculous. I mean, i never do dangerous things, nor act recklessly in the road, but driving at 30 kms per hour with a nowadays car is almost more dangerous than going faster. What do you do people? do you always respect the limits or sometimes go over them ?

I am generally law-abiding on the roads, so I do try and observe the speed limits. But if I am on the fast lane of the expressways, and cars are zipping slightly over the limit, I sometimes also go over the limits a little just to keep pace with the other cars. Otherwise I may disrupt the smooth flow of traffic if I try and be too law-abiding in such situations.

yeah, ironically sometimes going slow is more dangerous in a road where everyone goes faster, because you're like a clog in a blood vessel and someone might crash against you miscalculating your speed.

I must admit that I am usually a little bit over the limit. I agree that they should be reviewed though. most modern cars are easily capable of cruising on a motorway at 100mph safely. The 70mph limit in the UK has been in place since cars took twice as much skill to handle and took twice as long to stop.
I also hate that many residential roads are changing from 30 to 20mph. Of course it's safer for children etc. but 20mph is like jogging pace. I could probably get out and run faster. I'm sure it would be better to concentrate on road-safety education for children.

Very close to what i think rhino....anyway i'm sure you will agree with me that Common Sense (the least common of all senses btw) is the main tool against accidents.

I go over and under. My street is filled with little kids and the limit is 40 kmh, I go 20ish. The freeway and other unpopulated streets I might go over 10kmh, so it all depends on the street. Going throught town where cops might be everywhere I stick to the limits.

Yeah, if i think the cops might be around i won't surpass it of course. Sometimes though i let my wild side go out for a bit and i act a little bit bad ;). But never as a habit anymore...one grows old...

I do try to respect speed limits. I do mostly in town driving and there simply isn't any reason to drive faster than the limit, you will just get caught by the next red light and it all equals out. Besides, I always have my child with me and it is my responsibility to get him everywhere safely.
Occassionally on an open interestate highway, I will push the limit just a bit.... mostly to keep from being blown off the highway by everyone else doing it too.. ha, ha.

i respect the speed limit in places that i know have cops lurking around every corner. i live in florida, and there are a lot of small towns set up as speed traps that will nail you as soon as you come through, even 5mph over the speed limit! on the interstate though, i find myself going 80 or more in 65 zones. i've got places to be, and i've never been in an accident, so i hope for the best! sometimes speed limits are ridiculous though. on a 2 lane road in the middle of nowhere, the speed limit will be 35 mph. makes no sense! i find myself going 60 or so on those roads, lol.

I must say I usually do. Because I dont need a ticket at this point in my life. So Im carefull about the speed limit. Except for some roads I know very well. And yes I will go over the speed limit. Hey everyone does it!

I go over ALL the time! But it's not intentionally, I just drive according to the traffic flow and most times everyone is driving 10-20 MPH above the speed limit. So it's not my fault! Heheh! It's just so annoying when everyone is going 70 and you bump into someone doing 50 and have to quickly brake or change lanes.
The only time I consciously try to keep the limit is around school zones, since kids nowadays just jump into the street without even looking and one never knows. Plus, there's always cops around those areas. Hah! =P

Yeah, i also slow down when im close to schools and places like that...kids often don't look when they cross the street, plus there can always be a ball that accidentally falls etc.

Normally I don't go at the prescribed limit as it is somewhere 30 or 40 kmph. Its too slow and moreover others don't have patience to move along with you. Everyone is travelling at a faster pace and so do I. I respect the signs like 'do not overtake' especially found on the curves. We do not get the judgement exactly on the curves which may lead to accidents. Other than this I usually ride a bit faster than normal. Of course, I do not ride in a rash manner overtaking from right and left but only fast enough to reach the destination and slow enough to get the vehicle into control.
