Windows XP Pro will not start even in Safe Mode

Window XP Pro starts normally until after the XP Pro window appears. after several seconds the scroll bar at the bottom of the window stops and the computer locks up. I tried to start in Safe Mode with the same results.

Had a similar problem. turned out to be a damaged cable

Seems like you have a corrupted operating system. I would re-install the XP Pro operating system, but select the option to 'repair a damaged installation'. This should allow you to get back. If this fails, you will probably need to re-install the operating system, overwriting your existing settings. As long as you choose to NOT format, your data, files and other information should be intact. THis has happened to me many times in the last few years. Good luck!
