Successful Dowsing.

I wasn't quite sure where to put this discussion, but decided on the super-natural, because to me, dowsing is "natural", yet has had some "super" results for me:-)
I have just been engaged in a discussion on dowsing with another member and it has inspired me to start this new discussion.
Many years ago I used to do metal detecting. I had always been interesting in dowsing. For those who have not heard the term before, it is a method to search for hidden things using a forked twig (known as dowsing rods) or pendulum. A pendulum is an object on a piece of string that is held between the thumb and forefingers and placed over an object to find out hidden information about it. This is the method I have always used and have had some fascinating results.
One particular incident that comes to mind is when my wife lost a contact lens in our bedroom. Neither of us could find it at all and then I had an idea – I would dowse with my pendulum. I walked slowly around the room hold the pendulum suspended on the string. Suddenly it started to swing strongly in a clockwise direction and when I looked on that piece of carpet, there was the contact lens. These are extremely hard objects to find as they are transparent, and when lost, they are very expensive to replace. The odds of finding the lens by accident are very remote, so that convinced me that dowsing really works.
Please feel free to share your thoughts or experiences of dowsing.

What a wonderful idea to try. I have also lost a contact lens many times. I have never thought of this. I'm not really sure what kind of object to use. I know that my grandfather clock has a pendulum. :) Maybe you could help give me some ideas as what to use. Great discussion!

You can use anything that has a little weight in it that you can tie a piece of string/cotton to. A button, a washer, stone etc.
To use hold the string in whatever hand you feel is comfortable between thumb and forefinger so that the object can swing freely. Then let it go still or allow it to swing from side to side and hold the question in mind.
I decide to allow it to swing clockwise for yes (positive). I then allow my mind to be calm and if on a map I move it slowly across it, and if looking for something, I walk slowly around the room piece by piece. :-) Let me know if you find it useful :-)

There are certain foods that can cause me problems from time to time. Like causing indigestion of headache. In the kitchen I hold my pendulum over the suspected foods and if it swings counter-clockwise, it 'saying' don't eat that food, if it swings clockwise, it is 'saying' OK to eat the food.
Finding what food I am intolerant too otherwise would be by trial and error, but using a pendulum I have found it is fairly accurate :-)

i guess it is tapping in to a natural energy, and governing this to our own ends. Maybe this is something we all need to exploit. Once upon a time Electricity was simply an unexploited natural energy

I would like to try dowsing myself. I've never seen it done except on TV, which of course doesn't do it any justice. I, too, suspect that the "power" has something to do with instinct and energy channelling. Again, though, I'd really like to try it myself so I could get a "feel" - know what I mean?

Yes, I think you are right about that. If you read the response to liperoterachel below, you will see that you can easily try it whenever you wish. You may need to practice a little to gain confidence and you can use if for any question that needs a simple yes or no answer. Let me know what happens if you try. :-)
