Kids and Gum

My friend June sent me an e-mail the other day and asked if I knew how to gum out of clothes that had been dryed in the dryer.
Here is what will work most of the time if that ever happens.
As soon as you see the gum on the clothes, place them in the freezer for at least 8 hours. Then, you can take a stiff brush and the gum will usually come right off.
Immediately spray the spot with some kind of spot remover, because most chewing gum has oils in it. Wash again.
If you don't see it before it goes into the washer and dryer, this will still work...again most of the time.

You're welcome. I hope that you never have to use it, because it's a certain pain in the kaboose. But if you do, there it is! lol
I remember my son getting Laffy Taffy on a shirt, and I didn't think I would ever get it all out.

Peanut butter is supposed to be a good remedy as well. A long time ago I would buy a product from a company called Stanley Home Products. The product was Aquilaun, a cold water wash. It was great at getting gum out of fabric, rugs, etc. I believe Stanley and Fuller Brush have merged, though.

I had heard that as well. My grandmother used Stanley products all the time! I remember her "Stanley Man" as she called him, coming to the house once a month and bringing her products to her. I can still remember the wonderful way her bathroom smelled. I don't know what she might have used, but they were the only cleaning products she purchased.

Thankfully, neither have I! But I certainly used just about every remedy that I have ever heard of when the kids were little. We had one of the little ones at church (even though they've been asked not to have gum in the sanctuary) last year drop gum on the carpet and then someone stepped in it. It was a mess.
