I was wondering if you knew the best way to clean a micro wave out. I am afraid to use chemicals, as the fumes may stay, and get into the food. Do you have any suggestions? I made some bacon in there, and they blew up. Hehehhe. But, it's a mess, and I want it clean. Can use any advise. Thank you and God bless you.

Hi Margie!
I always put a bowl in my microwave. Into the bowl I have placed a cup of water with about 2 tablespoons of lemon juice. I microwave it on high until it is boiling and steaming. I remove the bowl(very carefully) and using a dishrag I then wipe out the microwave! The steam loosens all baked on spots and the lemon juice helps with smells!

Wow, great idea. I was using glass plus, and worried about the chemical odor. I will give this a try. Thanks so much my friend. How have you been?

Hey Crazynurse, you know that is an excellent idea also. I have never thought about that. Lemon juice would be wonderful to combat cooking smells in the microwave. I think I will give that a shot also.

Great tip Crazynurse. I often find myself pondering how to get the crud that has built up in the microwave of the client's I work for. This would solve the problem in short order.

Vinegar is looking good by the minute. Thanks sugar. Read the one about lemon, what do you think of that? Should be good too.

I was going to say as well, heat a cup of water in there, that loosens the "gunk" in there. I use a vinegar and water mix to clean everything. Just leave the door open to air out for a few minutes. Or just a sponge with warm/hot water should help as well, especially with grease.

Looks like vinegar is everyone's favorite. I thought about it, but didn't try it. I was using glass plus, and worried about that. Thanks for the help. Check out the first one with lemon. Good idea too.

Well, it looks like you have gotten the pretty standard answer. Vinegar or lemon juice will take care of most everything. If, after all of that treatment, you still have a stubborn bit of stuck on stuff, you cannot go wrong with a little bit of baking soda on your rag to use like scouring powder. So far you have received some very good, non toxic tips. You can clean almost anything with either vinegar or baking soda, especially in the kitchen. Effective, non toxic and germ killing. It certainly makes life easier.

Vinegar and water makes a very good cleaner for microwave, Margieanneart. I mix up about one cup to a sink full of hot water, when I am cleaning my appliances in the kitchen. It also shines everything up nicely also.

Extortion is easily the best...steal car keys, cell phones, etc. from sleeping children. They can get them back after the microwave is clean. Or simply boild water for 5 minutes. The steam will loosen last months meal fragments.

I just take the glass plate out and use dishwashing liquid to clean the glass plate that goes in the microwave and just take a sponge with soap and clean the inside of the microwave. It comes out pretty clean and is probably the safest way to clean the microwave. I probably would not use any types of sprays to clean it.

Simply put a bowl of water in and turn it on to boil and then when you remove the bowl, you can then wipe out the interior. Such a simple thing and one you can regularly with no fear of poisons and hard work since over time it gets easier. Have fun and good luck with this.

I put a dish of soapy water in mine, bring it to a full boil and then let it sit for while so the steam can soften any burned pieces then I take a damp cloth and wipe it out.

Hi Margie, I usually just use warm soapy water. Dish detergent comes in quite handy. There are "green products" on the market. We have ecover over here that works well. Or how about vinegar and water with a little bit of lemon juice thrown in. That would work and it is environmentally friendly.

I just use Lysol's Kitchen Cleaner and after I remove the stains, use a damp cloth. There is no chance of fumes since the only way that would happen is if you used an oven cleaner. You could use baking soda and that does work much better. Just be sure to wipe off the grit afterwards.

Try put some lime water and heat it for a while, then clean the walls with a clean damp rag.

I just use the dish soap and wipe it down with a wet rag. And make sure to rinse it out pretty good afterwards. It works everytime with our microwave.

I take a bowl with vinegar and water in it and place it in the microwave. Put the microwave on for about three minuts and the steam will loosen the food particles and then just wipe it out with a warm soapy sponge, rinse and dry it with a towel.

Hi,margieanne,
I always clean my microwave with a little liquid dish soap and water, usually after washing dishes. I don't think there are any chemicals which are harmful, we eat off the dishes that are cleaned with it. To get any smells out of the microwave, I use a cap of baking soda, set it in there for a while. The baking soda will absorb the odors.
Peace, Totty :)
