summer fairs!

So summer is here now for us and the summer fairs are going to start very soon. My family used to run a petting zoo at our summer fair but unfortunately it is no longer going,the fair I mean. So do you have a summer fair? What happens there? Share your experiences will ya?

I live in a town of 26,000 people. We most certainly have fairs. We have already had the Youth Festival. There will be a fair of sorts for our Canada Day holiday on July 1st (that takes place at the Fair Grounds & Agriculture Centre). There will be our Founders Day Festival/Buskers Fair around the second weekend in July. This takes place downtown where the road gets closed for three days. It includes rides, music, games and lots of buskers to watch. There will also be the Fall Fair on Labour Day weekend. That will also take place at the Fair Grounds.
We usually go to the Founders Day Fair because we love watching the Buskers (free shows or donations). We will go to the Fairgrounds on Canada Day at night to see the fireworks, and sometimes we go to the Fall Fair. It can really add up money-wise so I kind of hope the kids are busy with other activities so I don't have to dish out the dough that I don't really have.
There will also be a travelling fair in the parking lot of the mall at some point. I avoid that one.

Oh thank God I was beginning to give up hope! LOL The bigger towns around have the fair type thing on July 1st as well but we just have fireworks at a museum. I can see them from my house so I can avoid the crowds and stay at home! We have fairs within a couple hours away all summer and into September so we can go to one basically every weekend if we wanted to. Mega dough in order to do that though! LOL Thanks for the comment. :)

Wow, some people don't have summer fairs. My husband just spent the day at one he needed to help with. We don't go to many now the children are older. My daughter and I have been going to a gymkhana one for a few years now instead. I think we would not be allowed to have a petting zoo as too many people would be allergic to them or they might possibly get scratched or somesuch. What a pity.

It used to go over really well here. The parents loved it cause they just drop the kids off and go do whatever and the kids would gladly stay there all day. LOL We have had some kids that refused to leave when it was time to go! That was a great way to get rid of some extra kittens we had around as well. I tell you though some of the kids that were in there definitely didn't learn how to treat animals. :)

I dont think we have a summer fair, but the Ostrich festival is pretty close. Its a pretty tite fair thing with Ostrich races
