Question about Thunderbird and Gmail

Does anyone out there use the Thunderbird email client? If so do you use it with your Gmail account? For those of you that use Thunderbird to retrieve emails from your Gmail account, maybe you can answer my question. Does Thunderbird retrieve email that gets sent to the spam folder in Gmail, or does it only get the mail that goes into the inbox?

No,Till now I have not tried Thunderbird e-mail client but I use Outlook express with my hotmail e-mail account and it works fine with hotmail e-mail account and the best thing is that outlook express is free of cost and provided by Microsoft as default in any of the operating system's software.

The problem with Outlook Express is that it doesn't support TLS. The only thing it supports is SSL, and Gmail requires TLS.

No. It only downloads from your inbox. But I haven't seen any false positives from Gmail. Only a few known spammers go to my spam folder (of course, I'm careful with my primary e-mail address). I use a third-party C/R filter to handle the rest.

Well the problem I have is that a lot of times stuff goes into the spam folder that shouldn't. It's going to be so annoying to actually log in to all of my email accounts to check the spam folders. I guess I just have to set my contact lists to make sure that doesn't happen as much.

Yup, that would be a good idea. Have you setup filters, or is Gmail designating legitimate messages as spam all by itself? Gmail allows you to create some powerful filters, so be sure to watch what you're doing when you use them.
I like the C/R filter myself. Spammers will eventually back down if they can't reach your inbox, and especially if they get bounced messages or challenges. The only filter I setup in Gmail is a wildcard, to forward everything in my inbox to Bluebottle. ;)

I don't know why, but just the way that sounds made me snicker. Thanx for the laugh! :P
