Have you ever tried using FTP?

have you tried downloading via ftp? i've heard that its much faster..but i don't know where to get the addresses and passwords..som help pls..

I use http://www.smartftp.com/. If you follow the directions you can find out how it works. You enter the host like ftp.yoursite.com and then the password you used when you join your site. Your user name is your name plus /whatever the name of your site is. Anyway there are directions and most web hosts do show you how it is done.

I use CoreFTP. I downloaded it recently to upload my website through that to the website server. CoreFTP is free to download and have found it very easy to install and use and I liked it very much.
The username and password that you are talking about i guess, you can create it any site that you are interested to download or access it.
