UBUNTU not reading Card Reader....

hi all, i bought a new card reader last month ....it was a local one for Rs 500 ...a 19 in 1 it says ...thats all no company name no brand....and i worked as butter smooth with windows....this month i moved to ubuntu and ha there comes the problem...my card reader is not even detected by ubuntu 7.04... in windows it says its Generic USB Mass Storage ...thats all...more details .... the red light and green light ....red light -power green light - when a card is inserted...at first these two lights blinked in ubuntu...actually in windows they just glow...so with ubuntu this is what happened and then i restarted the system with card reader on ...the the light was stable but still it was not detected....now i think thats enough for someone linuxman to help me ....right ....Help me ....Please !!!!
