There is a big differance in Religion and being a Christian.

What is the differance? Well Religion was started by man. It is man's rules. But being a Christian was started by God. The New Testament Christian's follow God, Jesusand the Holy Spirit. The rules are in the Bible, placed there by God. Where things go wrong is when man steps up and adds his own rules with it. Man kind is the problem with this world. Not God.

This is very true. Mankind is the problem with this world, not God. But I understand that many non believers or people who adhere to other religions are confused, because of the many that say being Jesus' followers and are not. Let's add the confusion inside Christianity where many preach an Old Testament ethics, or profuse an Old Testament language of warfare against the pagans, etc. I think we agree in believing that grace, faith and pardon make newborn men and women, but where are the works to show that their face is a living faith, not a lifeless one? We are sinners when we come to Christ, but the Holy Spirit transforms us! So where are those transformed newborn men that unite in a new society called the Kingdom of God on Earth, or the body of Christ, or simply the Church? As long as the Church of Christ doesn't show herself powerfully among non believers and wrong believers, we must face the contempt of the world.

So true so true. The New Testament changed so much but too many people want to hang on to ways of controling insted of just loveing other people as Jesus did.

I beg your pardon, but I don't understand how Jehovah's Witnesses come in. They are not Christians because the don't recognize that Jesus is God and even make comments and changes in their New World Bible translation. Of course, there can be Christian ethics among them in the same way as it exists among others, but I'm lost at seeing how they could be mor special than believers who know that Jesus is absolutely divine and who call God "Father" or "Daddy" instead of Old Testament "Jehovah".

I have noticed it is a big problem that people mistake religion with being a Christian. Like some say religion is their hobby, and that isn't bad, but it doesn't set well when I say it. I want to be specific in what I am. Also, this is a big problem at MyLot - people railing against Christians for their behavior, when in fact, the behavior they describe is not from the Bible, and these people they call Christians are not Christian at all.

I cant believe people actually agreed to this.. to be a Christian means to follow the teachings of jesus Christ and his disciples. Religion: 1) a set of attitudes, beliefs, and practices pertaining to supernatural power. 2)a particular system of faith and worship.` 3)to follow the laws, teachings and practices pertaining to a supernatural power. as you can see, Christianity fits in all of those definitions. and what about all the other religions?? they say their god is right! the only reason YOU are Christian is because of GEOGRAPHY. if you were born in the mid east you would be saying the same thing, except for the koran! this is pretty ignorant of you..

really? were you raised Christian? my name is a sarcastic remark of the republican party. your saying Christianity is not a religion... does that not seem illogical in everyday to you? explain to me exactly why the definition of Christianity does not fit with the definition of religion. this is an interesting topic, however, you come out looking very ignorant in saying it. if you came out defining both and going through it logically and analytically, maybe you could have had a good debate. if you think being called "ignorant" is name calling, you fail to realize that the idea of faith itself, (believing without evidence) is ignorance of the truth. and you need to be ignorant to be religious. don't take it personally.. if you do, the only person you will hurt is yourself. this is my view on it, since you called it "name calling" and i call it "the truth". so you got to explain to me why Christianity is NOT a religion and how faith is not ignorant of the truth, if you want to have a good argument.. thanks.

I'm a Christian bc I'm saved by Jesus. There are Christians in the middle east. Why do you even care what we beleave? It is our choice. Just as not beleaving is your choice. It doesn't matter where I was born. What matters is that I choose to beleave. I think your name here says it all. You want a fight. Well I choose not to fight with you. That would be casting pearls before swine. Now if you want to stop name calling and speak with respect I will talk to you. If not then take it somewhere else. I will not play thoes games.
