Do you shop at Wal-Mart or do you avoid their stores? Do you have a choice or are there no other stores in your area? Those that do not choose to shop with Wal-Mart, why?

I used to live in a town where Wal-Mart was basically the only place to go to buy quite a lot of things. Our K-Mart closed, and the nearest Target was about half an hour away. Every small town had a Wal-Mart, though, so most people had to shop there for one thing or another. Now that I've moved to a bigger city, it took me a little while to get used to the fact that I had other options. The first week we were here, we drove over 30 miles just to get to a Wal-Mart. It was so crowded and icky, though, that we are never going back there. I prefer to not shop at Wal-Mart, but I know that in some small towns, it's the only option that people have. They do seem to do well in the semi-rural and rural areas of the midwest.

I have on occasion when I have been able to get to it. Walmart is so far away from where we live, even target and its only when we are able to get transport, do we visit those stores. One time my hubby and son had to catch two trains and a taxi just to get to it and then taxied all the way home with what we bought. It cost us an arm and a leg and no way were we going to ever do that again LOL

I usually shop at Zellers. Walmart is way too busy, too many people, long line-ups, and the variety and prices are really no different. But I do occasionally shop at Walmart when I am desperately searching for something in particular. And in other ways I just don't care for the store.

I go to WalMart a fair amount. They have a broad range of merchandise at reasonable prices. It does take some time, since you can't just walk in and out, which is a cost of doing business with them. But I usually have more time then I do money, so it works out.
