It has become more difficult to keep up with my bills. I hate writing checks. All of my bills are do at different times of the month which means that every week I have to sit down and write out some bills. I think I'll give the online billing a try. Are there any positive or negative stories regarding Online Billing?

Yes I paid my bills on time to avoid additional charges (i.e. late charge fee). I haven't tried online billing.

i do pay my bills on time, i do it through my bank also. Because my hubby paycheck always come on the beginning of the month, I usually do everything around the first week, so i don't have to worry for the rest of the month. Some of the bill is alrerady set up every certain dates of the month being deduct from my account.

My bank offers online bill payment, but I'm not a fan of that. Many of my utilites also offer direct withdrawl each month or an auto bill pay.
I'm not a fan of the above services because I like to decide when and how much I pay each company.
This is what I do which works very well.
First I use Quicken to track all my finances. With it I know when bills are due, and how much they will be. It even sends me alerts and reminders (altough I turned that feature off) because I do track *all* my finnances with it.
I do pay most of my bills online. But I do it directly by going to each companies website. I could automate the process but I like having control.
I've been paying all my bills online for the last 3 or so years. I have never had any problems. Zero.

I live by online billing. My car loan, which is through my credit union, is the only bill that I can not pay online because I do not have a checking account with them. That is the only bill that I also have a problem sometimes paying on time because I'm horrible at remembering to mail things and credit unions...banks too don't operate on regular work schedules. When they're open, I'm at work. So the only time I can remember to do it is on Saturday mornings.
Most banks allow you to use free billpay, credit cards also let you do it free through their own billpay. It's great. I think the only negative I have for online billpay.......well... I don't think I have a negative. You can schedule payments with most places...say it's due july 10th..you can schedule it in june to be paid in july..and it won't come out of your bank account until that date.
I'd highly suggest it.

In the UK many companies offer discounts for Direct Debit. This means that you give an undertaking to the company that they may make a charge for whatever is owing that month direct to your bank account. The terms are that they will send a bill as usual but that the bill will be paid automatically by the bank. If there is any dispute about the amount, it is as easy to deal with as it would be if one paid by cheque or cash and one has the full backing of the law in exactly the same way.
I use this method for all my regular utilities, rates and insurance bills. The only time I would not use it is when payments vary considerably from month to month. It has the advantages that, as mentioned, many companies offer a discount or cash back for using this facility; the payments are made automatically, usually on the same day every month; very often the payments are spread equally over the year, so it is easy to budget, and finally one does not have to remember to write cheques at particular times or to pay postage or visit the bank to make the payments.
Enquire of your bank and of your regular payees whether this facility exists and what discount or concessions they make for using it.

I pay all my bills online, even my mortgage. I pay them at my banks website and it's totally free :)
Once you get into a good habit, it's a breeze. I sit down every Saturday morning and pay my bills. Like you, I have bills due at different times of the month. That's why I pay bills every week, because there is always something due.

Yes our bills are always paid on time. We have many set up on automatic withdrawal so we don't have to worry about them. The others are paid depending on when they are due. I get paid the 1st and the 15th. When the 1st of the month paycheck is in the bank, we pay all those bills that are due between the 1st and 15th. When the 15th of the month paycheck is in the bank, we pay all those bills due between the 15th and end of the month. That way we only have to pay bills twice a month, and nothing is ever late. We have done this for years and have always kept up on our bills. We don't use online banking, but those who do speak very highly of it.

I loved online billing when I was doing the bills. You get instant confirmation, that you can print out for your records, when you pay the bill. No second-guessing later as to whether or not you sent the check. I never had any problems with it. It was nothing but a positive experience for me. It's great that now a lot of banks offer free bill-pay & there's also a website called mycheckfree.com where you can add most if not all of your bills and pay them all in one spot.
On the other hand, my husband refuses to use online. He is way too afraid that his account will be hacked. He won't even let me use his debit card at the post offices self pay terminal. I can understand his fear, but I think most of the processes they have in place to prevent theft works fairly well.
