What is exactly OpenGL? What types of graphic cards accept it? What is it used for? Is there some compatibility issues with OpenGL and other computer pices (i.e. CPU, RAM etc...).

I'm not going to go into detail on OpenGL, you can research it at the wiki sights previously listed. Basically it's a way that graphics cards can render data and images, usually of the 2 and 3-d variety. You'll find it used alot in games also. Pretty much all current graphics cards support OpenGL. If this info is just for building or updating a computer, OpenGL is WAY beyond the scope of knowlege that you need to do so. Suffice it say that any current ATI or Nvidia graphics card will support it with no problem.

Its time for the wiki link again! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_gl Are you a computer science student by chance? I mean it sounds like you are looking for topics based on a textbook from one of the hardware courses I've seen taught recently.
