macaroni salad and I like it warm! Yes I actually heat it up a little in the microwave before I eat it. My Bf says it is not good to do since it has mayonnaise in it. But I think it is okay since I don't cook it I put it on low temperature and just warm it a little. I started doing this when my teeth became sensitive to cold a few years back. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think eventually it may make me sick? Have you ever tried it your self? It's not like I do it a lot. Just a few times in the summer when I make it myself. Do you think this is unhealthy?

Yes, I have eaten it that way and no it won't make you sick. I went through the same discussion with my boyfriend over a cake recipe I have that calls for mayonnaise. He said it was bad for you and I even started a discussion about it. But anyway, I prefer mine cold but I understand why you would want it warmed up a bit.

It shouldn't make you sick as it isn't sitting around getting warm etc. Heat and eat sounds okay to me. But I have never tried macaroni sald warm. Hmmmm? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !~~

We love pasta sald, as we call it. I have had left overs heated up as a hot meal. In our case though, I don't use mayonaise. I use a tomato sauce, bbq sauce as a dressing, & that is fine heated up. The only way you could find out if mayonaise is okay heated up, is to contact the manufacturues.

It is a misconception that mayonnaise goes bad if it gets hot. There is so much vinegar in mayonnaise that it kills some of the bacteria. If you heat in in the microwave I wouldn't worry. If you leave in on the counter for a week-that's another story...

Allowing a mayonaiise based salad of any kind to be exposed to warm temperatures for long periods of time will allow salmonella to grow. I don't believe that there is harm in heating it up first. Many of my recipes use mayonaiise and then cooking the item.

I must say I've heard some strange things but have never heard of warm macaroni salad. I do like it cold but can't imagine eating it warm. I would be concerned because of the salad dressing or mayo in it being 'warm' might be dangerous.

Its great actually. I like it too. Although not particularly the marcaroni salad you are making but I find that sometimes I enjoy the home made stuff better than market products. I guess the effort adds to the taste and satisfaction to some level.

I have never tried this. I imagine it would be ok. I would probably just let it sit out on my plate for about 10 minutes. Till the chill is gone.
