Dan the theme music for a show help or hurt it.

I think the theme music is very important. It is not enough by itself to carry a show of course but it can make a difference. One case I am thinking about is True Calling which suffered because it had practically the same theme music and song as the already well established show Smallvile escept that for Smallville was better done. Smallville had "save me" and True Calling had "help me" and the performance of the music and singing on Smallville was and is much better. Of course True Calling suffered from a decline in writing in the 2nd season also. I think the theme is important, it may not save a bad show, but it can help a mediocure one.
