So we were out to our soon to be new home again today, getting the floors measured and what-not, and while sitting outside waiting for the realtor, I got bit by a mosquito, next to my eyebrow. I guess for most people this would just be a minor irritation and a small red bump. Not for me. Idevekhave, in the last few years, developed an allergy to bug bites, I am aware now that I am allergic to both mosquitos and black-flies, I have not recently been bit by a bee or wasp, god knows what would happen then, but what has happened with the mosquito bite, is that it has blown up into a big brusied looking bump that looks like someone hit my in the head with a hammer. I have tried off the shelf allergy medications and they have done nothing for me. Right now I have a huge gob of Benedryl Cream and a bandaid covering the lump, but I don't think it's helping much. Does anyone know od any medications or natural remedies that really work for taking the swelling out of a bite from a bug that you are allergic to? Please help, I don't want to spend the summer looking like I was attacked with a bag of hammers.

Sorry I'm strugling with the same issue w/my daughter. The only thing we have found is to make sure she takes benedry before she goes outside plenty of bug spray and benedryl after she comes in. I give her 1/2 the dose before and the other after. It doesn't stop it completely but they don't get as bad.

I will have to try that with the benedryl, I have only tried taking it after I noticed the spot swelling up. I forgot to wear bug repellant today. I may have to trade in my regular bpdy lotion for bug repellant lotion just to be sure I have it on all the time.

I would go to the doctor if I was you. Sounds like you need some prescription strength meds. Also get an epipen while your there in case the next bite does more than irritate your skin. Take Care.
