Do you think a man improves himself by keeping himself as a role model?

Any man can improve himself not so much as being a role model but by how they go about improvment my mentor follows many ways and such as the Tao.
#22 Yield and overcome;
Bend and be straight;
Empty and be full;
Wear out and be new;
Have little and gain;
Have much and be confused;
Therefore wise men embrace the one
And set an example to all.
Not putting on a display,
They shine forth.
Not justifying themselves,
They are distinguished.
Not boasting,
They receive recognition.
Not bragging,
They never falter.
They do not quarrel,
So no one quarrels with them.
Therefore the ancients say,"Yield and overcome."
Is that an empty saying?
Be really whole,
And all things will come to you.
This is part of the tao one of many. Let man know what we are and how we should be but are not.

I think that a man can either improve himself by keeping himself as a role model or keeping open his eyes to follow some good models.
Why do I say so? If a man who is very successful can always keep himself as a model, he is sure to make himself improve a lot, but for one who is not so oriented in keeping himself as a role model, he needs to keep his eyes open to follow successful persons to improve himself. This is my humble point to this.

Yes, he can be rolemodel for himself provided he has proved successful. Otherwise a man should look back and see someother successful person as role model,.

well to me doing somthing because it would make a good romodel isnt really good because being yourself is what we need to teach our kids today. so unless that is who you are dont pretend....
