What do you know about this and what suggestions do you have?.. The doctors are not wotking to stop or prevent these actions she is doing to herself. I feel it dangerous and a very serious issue. I need your help. Please share with me if you know someone with this issue. My daughter is wanting help as well and she is scared. How does she stop this and whats a way for her to cope?

My daughter has been out of school about three years now, but I remember when in school she would talk about several friends and other girls she knew who were 'cutters'. Cutter is the term for girls that injury their self in response to emotional pain. I remember being as surprised as you that girls would intentionally cut their own arms or legs. It made no sense to me. But I checked into it and found that it is not as uncommon as you might think. If the doctors are not trying to stop it then she needs new doctors. This is serious. Here are some links that might help you. http://health.discovery.com/centers/teens/cutter/crisis.html http://kidshealth.org/teen/your_mind/mental_health/cutting.html There are also some books on the subject. One is by Susan Bowman and Kaye Randall and is titled 'See My Pain' and 'Bodily Harm' by Jennifer Kinsonbloom, Karen Conterio and Wendy Lader. Both are available at Amazon.com. Good luck and let us know how it goes. I will pray for your step daughter.
