Ah those back fighters

July 17, 2007 7:07pm CST
We all have had our rounds with these people at some time in life, haven’t we? You know them, for they are all the same from grade school to their golden years, they never change. They are loathsome individuals too coward to stand and face their opponents, so they back stab, gossip and start character assassination crusades. They can cause a lot of damage yet they themselves are nothing, no more of a threat than an ant. I was reminded today of them, cause to be quite honest they are easily forgotten people, and I got to pondering. Why are these people so scared of direct confrontation? Why do they have this drive to attack behind the back with such viciousness yet they are scared of their own shadow? Is it envy that turns to jealousy? A secret desire to control or be in control? Strange isn’t it, when you think of it. So here are my questions, feel free to pick one... What’s one of your experiences with a back fighter? OR Have some advice on how to deal with them? OR What are your feelings on back fighters in general? **************************************************** I thank you all in advance and I...oh you know the rest. :oD

To me they are sneaky cowards who dont have the guts to face the person they are trying to malign or hurt. I despise them. They usually are people without integrity, which brings out the hidden liars and cheats in them. I think they must live very unsatisfactory, unfulfilled lives and only get their few minutes of pleasure in life by sitting and back waiting and watching for the results of their deeds.

Wow you summed that up quite nicely! "and watching for the results of their deeds." It's also a real kick to see those results are often not what they were shooting for too. Sometimes Karma gets them first, and well these people just don't like that much, not nearly as much as I do any way, LOL.

I have dealt with my fair share. I was a geek in school. extremely shy and my parents made me dress in the weirdest clothes imaginable. I got picked on alot. I don't think it was envy at all. I think their meaness gave them some sort of imagined power. they always had a following and no one seemed to be brave enough to stand up to them lest they be the next victim. As I outgrew my awkwardness, the attacks got more vicious...especially behind my back. I was always really quiet so they knew that it was all their show. Ironically, Years after highschool, I moved into a place where one of the worst offenders lived below me. My daughter quickly became friends with her two little ones. She was very kind to me as if nothing had ever happened. One day she came to me desperatly needing my help. I was the only one available at the time im sure. Before I went forward with it, I asked her "Why?" . She couldnt even explain it. she just appologized.

"think their meaness gave them some sort of imagined power." Yes you are correct, I do think it gives them that false sense they have the power. While I am glad your friend appologized, it would have still been interesting to have heard why she did it. Thanks for the reply.

I think it's funny when someone who talks behind peoples' backs is actually confronted. They can look so vulnerable, and it's the best when they start apologizing and saying they didn't mean it!!!!!! I basically find them to be cowardly and probably most of their behavior is fueled by insecurities and jealousy.

"it's the best when they start apologizing and saying they didn't mean it!" Oh my yes! And they will to, suddenly they don't know you or what in the world you are talking about and suddenly the air is heavy with the smell of urine, ha ha! Yes, it's priceless when they get busted!
