What defines that line between insanity and genius?

Given Autism and the degrees between "normal" and Autistic, I don't think the line is that simple or clear. As a matter of fact I personally know a couple folks who are borderline (to be polite).

it's really funny.. i was just thingking about this question last night.. and i'm surprise to see this subject here!!... my answer is the proof of what you believe... and of course the behavior, whether your acting like a fool or acting like professional (normal)

It is not a line, it is a zone. As I see, you are from India. So the Buddist thinking of the world to be grey should be familiar to you. I am from Germany and was educated in Aristotle's black/white or good/bad or right/wrong thinking. It took me 30 years to understand Budda's approach and finally I must say, he is more right than Aristotle.
THERE IS NO LINE BETWEEN INSANITY AND GENIUS; there is a zone of vagueness and fuzzyness between them.
The principle is called FUZZY LOGIC and I read a great book about it by BART KOSKO titled FUZZY THINKING. I think, you can find him on internet.
