Anyone having problems after installing Norton Internet Security 2007?

I recently went from Norton Internet Security 2006 to the 2007 version. Since then I have intemittant problems that I never had before which appear to me to be some kind of instability with Microsoft Internet Explorer and to a lesser extent XP. What happens is that all of a sudden the "open in a different window" function will quit working entirely or the new window will not have the top tool bar and sometimes it just gives a blank page that can not be closed and then even control alt delete does not behave properly. I have to completely close the browser and struggle to get end program to work. On rarer occasions I have had trouble with the XP file system. All this has happened since the installation with nothing like it before then. And of course getting in touch with Symmatec is almost impossible.

Not really an option at this point and the 2006 version worked great.

I installed McAfee internet security suite but startup time is bit too much to my liking.. Is this normal? Also, I disabled siteadvisor as it slows down loading of webpages.. Any thoughts?

norton always slows down your computer...it's been a known fact since 2005 i think

I got a new computer recently with XP on it. Then a couple of weeks ago I got the upgrade for Norton 2007 from 2006. I haven't had too many problems with it. Occasionally the "fraud monitoring is on" bar turns red and indicates there is "engine trouble" but I am still able to operate. What I find problematic with 2007 is that I don't have the option of parental controls or pop-up blocker. It says there is a pop-up blocker on somewhere but I have no way to control it and it certainly isn't blocking ALL the pop-ups, but most of them. Anyway, I am not having the trouble you are having. Maybe you want to remove it and download it again.

I bought and installed it from cd. My fraud monitoring bar has never gone red that I have noticed. I have the same pop-up problems as you.

A better question would have been "Anyone NOT having problems after installing Norton?" Norton is garbage. It is a bloated piece of software that creates a false sense of security while parting you from your money. McAfee is just as bad if not worse. McAfee includes their stupid security center which is designed to tell you your computer is not secure until you own every McAfee product on the market. If you a good, dependable antivirus that won't slow your machine to a crawl, try Kaspersky, or NOD32. If you'd rather save some money and still get adequate protection try Avast from www.avast.com it's completely free.
